The S.M.A.S.H iRacing Super Late Model Series returns tonight, and the championship picture is starting to take shape.

Round 4 sends the field to Southern National Motorsports Park for 75 laps of short-track racing, marking the halfway point of the eight-race Super Late Model championship schedule.

Three rounds are complete.

Five points separate the top two.

And tonight, the season reaches a major turning point.

Round 4 Race Day

Southern National Motorsports Park brings the Super Late Models into another tight, physical short-track environment where patience, tire management, and clean exits off the corner will matter all night.

This is not a track where drivers can afford to overdrive every lap.

Track position will be important, but survival may be even more important. With only 75 laps on the board, mistakes can pile up fast. A bad restart, a missed corner, or one overaggressive move could turn a strong points night into a long race very quickly.

At the halfway mark of the season, every position matters.

Championship Battle Tightens

Braxton DeWeese enters Round 4 as the Super Late Model points leader with 122 points, but Jeffrey Stanton is right behind him with 117.

That leaves only five points separating first and second heading into Southern National.

Kasey Ellis sits third with 102 points, still within striking distance if the top two have trouble. Behind them, Cody O’Connor, Darren Higgins, David Palmer, Daryl Griffin, and Jacob Brooks remain in the mix as the standings continue to settle.

Current Top 10 Standings entering Round 4:

  1. Braxton DeWeese — 122

  2. Jeffrey Stanton — 117

  3. Kasey Ellis — 102

  4. Cody O’Connor — 68

  5. Darren Higgins — 66

  6. David Palmer — 62

  7. Daryl Griffin — 62

  8. Jacob Brooks — 60

  9. Dillon Canova — 35

  10. Johnny Bobby Brown — 32

The gap at the top is small.

That makes tonight important.

A strong run could give DeWeese breathing room. A mistake could open the door for Stanton. A big night from Ellis could pull him closer to the fight before the final half of the season begins.

Halfway to the Championship

Round 4 is more than just another race.

It is the halfway mark.

After tonight, the Super Late Model Series will move into the back half of the championship schedule, where every race carries more pressure. Drivers are no longer just trying to get comfortable with the series. They are now building a championship run, protecting points, and trying to avoid the kind of mistakes that can define a season.

The first three races showed who has speed.

The next five will show who can finish the job.

Southern National is the first major checkpoint.

What to Watch

The biggest question tonight is whether DeWeese can continue to control the championship lead or if Stanton can close the gap.

The second question is whether another driver can step forward and turn the championship fight into a three-driver battle before the second half of the season begins.

Southern National will also test discipline. The Super Late Models demand smooth inputs, patience in traffic, and smart decision-making on restarts. Drivers who stay calm and protect their tires should have a chance to be there late.

Drivers who force the issue early may not make it to the finish with the result they need.
