S.M.A.S.H O’Reilly Series: Shane Marcum Wins at Homestead-Miami

By S.M.A.S.H — May 2, 2026

The S.M.A.S.H O’Reilly Series rolled into Homestead-Miami Speedway Saturday night, and when the checkered flag fell, Shane Marcum stood on top.

Marcum put together a dominant performance in the 100-lap event, leading 92 laps and controlling the race from the front. At a track where tire management, rhythm, and patience matter, Marcum showed exactly what it takes to win in the O’Reilly Series.

The race featured 12 drivers, a 1815 strength of field, 100 laps completed, one caution for three laps, and three lead changes. It was a full-distance O’Reilly Series points race that tested long-run discipline and rewarded the drivers who could keep the car underneath them all night.

Shane Marcum Controls the Night

Shane Marcum came into Homestead-Miami and made a statement.

Starting second, Marcum wasted no time putting himself in position to win. Once he got control of the race, he did not let it slip away. Leading 92 of 100 laps is not just winning — that is setting the pace, managing the field, and making everyone else chase.

Homestead is not an easy place to dominate. The tires fall off, the groove moves, and drivers have to stay disciplined over a long run. Marcum handled all of it and walked out with the win.

That is the kind of night that gets noticed.

Richardson and McDonald Complete the Podium

Lee Richardson IV finished second after leading seven laps and posting the fastest lap of the race. Richardson had speed, stayed in the fight, and gave himself a strong points night with a podium finish.

Steven L McDonald came home third, putting together a solid run and rounding out the podium at Homestead-Miami.

At this point in the season, podiums matter. These are the races that start shaping the championship picture. Every clean finish, every strong points night, and every position gained starts to add up.

Homestead Demands Discipline

Homestead-Miami Speedway does not hand out easy results.

Drivers have to manage the throttle, protect the tires, and stay patient as the run develops. Push too hard early and the car will punish you late. Miss the rhythm of the track and the leaders can drive away fast.

Saturday night’s O’Reilly race showed that clearly.

The drivers who stayed composed were able to keep themselves in the fight. The drivers who lost time, lost track position, or had issues had to spend the rest of the night trying to recover.

That is what makes Homestead such a strong test for this series.
