S.M.A.S.H Race Day: Super Late Models Make Their League Debut at South Boston

By S.M.A.S.H — June 14, 2026

A new chapter begins tonight.

For the first time in league history, the S.M.A.S.H Super Late Model Series takes the green flag.

The track is South Boston Speedway.

The race is 75 laps.

The moment is historic.

After a full Season 1 across the truck, O’Reilly, and Cup divisions, S.M.A.S.H now adds something different to the lineup. The Super Late Models bring short-track intensity, tighter racing, quicker reactions, and a completely different style of competition.

This is not about waiting around.

This is not about riding for long stretches.

This is short-track racing.

Every corner matters.

Every restart matters.

Every mistake shows up fast.

A New Series Begins

The S.M.A.S.H Super Late Model Series was built to bring a new kind of racing to the league.

These cars are lighter, tighter, and built for close-quarters competition. Drivers will have to manage traffic, protect the bottom, time their moves, and stay disciplined for the full distance.

At South Boston, there is nowhere to hide.

The track is short. The laps come fast. The field will stay close. Drivers who overdrive corner entry will pay for it. Drivers who get impatient will find trouble. Drivers who stay calm and manage the race will give themselves a chance to be there at the end.

That is what makes tonight so important.

This is not just Race 1.

This is the first impression of a brand-new S.M.A.S.H series.

South Boston Sets the Tone

South Boston Speedway is the perfect place to launch the Super Late Model Series.

It is a true short-track test.

Drivers will need to be aggressive, but not reckless. They will need to pass, but not force the issue too early. They will need to understand when to push and when to protect the car.

The race is 75 laps, and that distance is long enough for the story to change more than once.

Some drivers will be fast early.

Some will come alive late.

Some will learn quickly that South Boston rewards patience just as much as speed.

Tonight, the drivers are not just racing each other.

They are helping define what this series will become.

First Win Means Forever

Every race win matters.

But the first one is different.

Tonight’s winner will always be the first driver to win a S.M.A.S.H Super Late Model Series race. That is something nobody else can take away.

The first pole.

The first lead change.

The first big move.

The first mistake.

The first checkered flag.

It all starts tonight.

When the field rolls off at South Boston, every driver in the session has a chance to put their name into league history.
